Title: Discerning the Truth
He says, ‘Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth. – Romans 12:1b
The world around us constantly bombards us with counsel. People (including friends and relatives), television, magazines, web ads, emails, billboards, and even our own voices in our heads, are constantly slamming us with a barrage of information about who we are. With so many different ideas and views, it can be challenging to discern the truth.
The only place where we can find the truth about who we are is from God. Since He created us, He alone knows who we are and who He means for us to be. We need to take the time to find a quiet place to read His word daily and then pray. He speaks to us through these things.
Only then can we drown out the lies the world tells us about ourselves and who we tell ourselves we are. Only in listening will we align our understanding of who we are with God’s truth. Listening to the truth will give us the fuel to recognize the lies and live out our lives in truth for His glory.
Real Men listen to the truth.
