Title: The daily drill
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. – Ephesians 6:11
There is a daily drill called the 10-minute warrior in the law enforcement community. In this regular drill, you spend 10 minutes drawing an empty firearm over and over again. It can be done in front of the mirror, but I often choose to do it in the dark. The thought behind this is that if you practice drawing your firearm 10 minutes per day, it becomes second nature. In the event of a critical incident, you are smooth, fast, and focused.
If I’m being sincere, there are times that I am less then prepared for spiritual battle. Without preparation, I ultimately fall on my face in defeat. But what about those victories? How do they come about, and do I play any role in those? You bet! As I train with the weapons God has provided, I am more prepared for battle. I can walk into battle wearing the belt of truth and breastplate of righteousness; at my feet can be the gospel of peace. I will also be wearing the helmet of salvation while carrying the shield of faith and sword of the Spirit.
Real men are ready for battle because they practice using their weapons.
