Title: The daily drill
Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. – Ephesians 6:11
In the law enforcement community, there is a daily drill called the 10 minute warrior. In this daily drill, you spend 10 minutes drawing any empty firearm over and over again. It can be done in front of the mirror, but I often choose to do it in the dark. The thought behind this is that if you practice drawing your firearm 10 minutes per day, it becomes second nature so that in the event of a critical incident, you are smooth, fast and focused.
If I’m being totally honest, there are times that I am less then prepared for spiritual battle and without preparation, I ultimately fall on my face in defeat. But what about those victories? How do they come about and do I play any role in those? You bet! As I train with the weapons God has provided, I am more prepared for battle. I can walk into battle wearing the belt of truth and breastplate of righteousness; at my feet can be the gospel of peace. I will also be wearing the helmet of salvation, while carrying the shield of faith and sword of the Spirit.
Real men are ready for battle because they practice using their weapons.
