Title: Familiar with Risk?
Defend the cause of the weak and fatherless; maintain the rights of the poor and oppressed. – Psalm 82:3
Indeed, you are all familiar with the game of Risk. If not, here’s a brief rundown. You start by selecting your countries, and as the game progresses, you fortify around your frontlines. One key strategy is to move armies up territories toward your perimeter to defend areas in which you may be weak.
God has called men to a similar battle. Orphans, widows, poor, marginalized, non-English speaking, you put in the term of your choosing. He has called you to defend it. We have often made these people the enemy when they are the people God has called us to protect. If you don’t know any of these people, dare I say that is a problem! Go find them. It’s not complicated. They are in your neighborhood. They are your single moms. Your kids of divorced parents. Those people. God’s calling for all of us is to defend the weak and poor. Don’t stay on the sidelines; it’s not an option.
Real men battle for the marginalized.
