Title: Live for his glory
Offer your bodies as living sacrifices, holy and pleasing to God – this is your spiritual act of worship. – Romans 12:1b
I’ll admit it; I want glory. If I am honest, seeking glory for myself is the most significant motivating factor that influences my behaviors and decisions daily. I fall prey to the first lie ever told, and that still rings true today, “eat the fruit of the tree… you will be like God.” Isn’t it true that since I seek self-glory in my choices, I want to be like God?
We are called to live for something greater. When I am living for my glory, I am settling for much less than what my life is meant to achieve. Being a living sacrifice, that is, living for God’s glory by doing His will instead of my own, is our necessary response to the greatest commandment – to love God with all of our heart, soul, strength, and mind. We will live for His glory when we love His will more than our own. Then, we are living our lives face-down in true spiritual worship. By ourselves, this task is impossible. God’s spirit alone inside of us enables us to live for God’s will and glory.
Whose glory do you seek, yours or His? Do you believe God’s Spirit can empower you to do God’s will? Do you believe in God’s Spirit or your voice?
Real Men Worship in spirit and truth.
