Title: He Is Holy
Exalt the Lord our God and worship at his footstool; he is holy. – Psalm 99:5
There are passages in the Bible that confound me. When I read them, I am left struggling to find the proper meaning. This is not one of those passages. The picture painted by this verse is very literal. First, David tells us to “Exalt the Lord our God.” Next, he shows us how to exalt him, by “worshipping at his footstool.” In so doing, I place God in his lofty place, and I am in my rightful place of humility at his feet. Why do we do this? Because “He is holy.”
Do you desire to escape sin that is brought about by pride? Exalt the Lord your God and worship at his footstool. Are you overjoyed at a significant accomplishment or milestone? Exalt the Lord your God and worship at his footstool. Are you overwhelmed by the pain of significant loss? Exalt the Lord your God and worship at his footstool. Those that heed these words honor a Holy God.
Real men exalt the Holy God in humility.
