Title: The root is pride
Whoever acknowledges me before others, I will also acknowledge before my Father in heaven. – Matthew 10:32
The thought of standing in front of our Father and having Jesus say, “I do not know him,” literally makes me panic a little. And I think it is supposed to.
God asks us for very little. But, what He does ask for, He is serious about. He insists that we acknowledge Him in our lives. Why? Does He need His ego boosted? God doesn’t need us to acknowledge Him for His sake but for ours. If we stop acknowledging Christ and what He did for us, we quickly lose who we are in Him, and the world begins to have its way with us. He does not call us all to be world-renowned evangelists, but if you can’t acknowledge His glory in your life to yourself and others, something is wrong.
You may think it’s fear holding you back. But, like other sins, the root is pride. We often need to get out of our way and His.
Real men don’t let pride keep you from acknowledging Him.
