Title: The subtle difference
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters – Colossians 3:23
It’s raining outside because the sidewalk is wet.Or…
The sidewalk is wet because it’s raining outside.
Which of those statements is more accurate?
As you read this passage, you might conclude that you will be rewarded if you work hard, like you are working for the Lord. But if you read all of Colossians 3 you’ll see that it’s more accurate to say, “I know that I will receive the inheritance as my reward. Therefore, whatever I do, I will do it for the glory of God.”
Do you see the subtle difference?
No matter who you are, a husband, a parent, a child…even a bondservant, God wants you to be the best “you” you can be.
Because, it’s a foregone conclusion, “…you will receive the inheritance as your reward.”
It’s not a prerequisite, it’s a response to God’s love through Jesus Christ.
Real men strive to be their best.
