Title: Hurt my Pride
Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding; – Proverbs 3:5
I was in an unfamiliar grocery store looking for coffee. Usually, it’s somewhere close to the cereal and other breakfast stuff, but it just wasn’t there. I must have taken five or six laps around the store, looking up and down the aisles and reading all the signs. I was beginning to wonder if they didn’t carry coffee. Impossible! Then I would think, “Maybe if I just take one more lap, I can find it…”
I knew I could have avoided wasting all that time and energy by asking an employee to point me toward the coffee. And please, point me in the right direction. Don’t walk me over to the spot I passed six times already. My pride is already hurt enough.
How often are we guilty of this? We sit there, spinning our wheels, or walk around in circles when all we need to do is swallow our pride and ask God for the answer. It might be a bit humbling to have Him walk you to that spot you’d passed up countless times. Your pride might get hurt. But who looks smarter? The one who asks for help or the one who walked by the coffee six times?
