Title: The Good News
John 8:32 “Then you will know truth and the truth will set you free.”
What is the truth, and from what can it free us? The bondage of sin is inescapable without Jesus. It is a simple concept but a complex reality.
We don’t have to look for sin; it seeks us out. Often residing in our thoughts. So, how do we escape an enemy already within our walls…The Good News! Jesus, that is good news. Once you’ve given your life to Christ, be courageous not because you won’t sin but because you no longer must be a slave to it.
Recently, during a sermon, the pastor shared an important story from someone in his flock struggling with alcohol. He said to them, if you think about not drinking, you’ll want a drink more. It’s our nature. But instead, spend time with Jesus every evening and in his word. Then, afterward, if you still want a drink, have one. Two weeks later, that person had been following the advice and hadn’t wanted a drink since they’d followed the Jesus plan. You see, He is what we need to quench our thirst. He is our freedom from bondage.
Real Men accept that their freedom is in Christ.
