Title: You have been adopted
Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. – John 8:32
Dogs do strange things when they get excited. Some dogs jump up in the air, and others get loud and bark whenever the doorbell rings. Other dogs get excited and, well…you know.
I met a dog named Jack who ran around in tight circles when he was excited to see someone. His owner told me that he was kept in a crate for the first three years of his life and was rarely let out.
Jack was given up for adoption and given a new life with a new family. He also had a new backyard with lots of freedom to run and play. But he would often revert to old behaviors and run around in tight circles as if trapped in his crate.
In the same way, we have old habits and old sins. Sometimes, it feels like we are entrapped by them, like running around in tight circles, getting nowhere. But Jesus has set us free. When you find yourself reverting back to old habits and sins, remember this: We have been adopted into a new family and given a new life in Him. And that’s the truth!
Real Men are Set Free by the Truth.
