Title: Guarded Hearts
Love the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. – Deuteronomy 6:5
Funny. I glanced over this verse and noticed the autocorrect had inserted “hurt,” where I must have mistyped “heart.” As I pondered the “mistake,” I realized that what prevents many men from giving all to Jesus is an unwillingness to trust God with unresolved hurts.
Like a wounded animal that cowers or hisses at its would-be helper, we attempt to guard our wounded hearts from God. As a result, we do not love with ALL our heart . . . not the parts that still hurt.
What hurt in your heart are you aware of? I encourage you to acknowledge it today to God in prayer, trusting Him even if it hurts. See what happens.
