John 8:32 “Then you will know truth and the truth will set you free.”
What is the truth and what can it free us from? The bondage of sin is inescapable without Jesus. A simple concept but a hard truth.
We don’t have to go looking for sin, it seeks us out. Often, residing in our own thoughts. So, how do we escape an enemy that is already within our walls so to speak…The Good News! Jesus is that good news. Once you’ve given your life to Christ be courageous not because you won’t sin but because you no longer must be a slave to it.
Recently, during a sermon the pastor shared an important story from someone in his flock struggling with alcohol. He said to them, if you think about not drinking you’ll want a drink more, it’s our nature. But, instead, spend time with Jesus every evening and in his word. Afterwards, if you still want a drink have one. Two weeks later that person had been following the advice and hadn’t wanted a drink since they’d been following the Jesus plan. You see, He is what we need to quench our thirst. He is our freedom from bondage.
Real Men accept that their freedom is in Christ.
