Tue // Fuel :: Word
Title: Fuel for the Soul For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12 Do you remember Mr. Fusion from Back to the Future? Doc […]
Mon // Surrender :: Control
Title: Headfirst right into a light pole! Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding. – Proverbs 3:5 As seniors in high school, a few friends and I walked briskly down a busy street. We were on our way to see a movie and cutting our time close. One of the guys got something in his eye and grabbed the nearest shoulder. “I got something in my eye!” He said. “Just keep walking!” With his head down, he wiped his eyes with one hand and kept the other on his friend’s shoulder for guidance. He trusted his friend to get him to the movie theater. DOING!!! He went headfirst right into a light pole! We all laughed, but the trusted friend was not a perfect guide. We are fortunate to have a God that we can trust through the many different situations we find ourselves in, even when we have our eyes wide open! Take a moment to vocalize to Him this morning. Say it out loud. “Lord, I trust you today. I will follow your lead.” Real men Trust the Lord.

Title: You have been adopted Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free. – John 8:32 Dogs do strange things when they get excited. Some dogs jump up in the air, and others get loud and bark whenever the doorbell rings. Other dogs get excited and, well…you know. I met […]
Sat // Build :: Invest
Title: Jesus Invested Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters – Colossians 3:23 Finger waging “God is watching you…” type of approach to this passage, but let’s take a different angle. Have you ever had a boss at work for whom you would […]
Fri // Steel :: Passion
Title: Let Him In Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. – Deuteronomy 6:5 You can’t love someone without first letting them in — all the way. Too often, we keep people at arm’s length as a way to protect ourselves from pain and […]
Wed // Grit: Character
Title: Influence or Influenced Do not be misled: “Bad company corrupts good character.” – 1 Corinthians 15:33 We don’t like to admit it, but the more time we spend with someone, the more we act like them. It’s sort of like spending a week in Canada and coming back with a new accent. Eh? We were […]
Fri // Steel :: Integrity
Title: Do not deny your integrity Till I die, I will not deny my integrity. Job 27:5b I hope you aren’t having a day like Job. His story was crazy. If you didn’t know it, he lost everything: his wealth, his family, and even his health. He had a few friends left, but they accused […]
Tue // Fuel :: Word
Title: Don’t leave yourself stranded For the word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. – Hebrews 4:12 Don’t leave yourself stranded! Right now, I’m waiting to board a plane. I’m leaving Boston and heading back home to the northwest. Man, am I tired. My sleep schedule is off. I haven’t seen my wife and kids for a week, and I can’t wait to give each of them a hug. As […]
Thu // Warrior :: Courage
Title: The King Armor Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. – Ephesians 6:10 What adversity are you facing today? Marriage and family issues? Work? Health? You are not alone. God is with you. And he is powerful. David defeated Goliath by standing up in the face of adversity. He had confidence […]
Sat // Build :: Encouragement
Title: People Keep It Hidden But encourage one another daily, as long as it is called “Today,” – Heb 3:13a Most of the people you come into contact with daily are dealing with discouragement on one level or another. Discouragement feels like a weakness, so people keep it hidden. But all of us could use a […]
