Those who cling to worthless idols turn away from God’s love for them. – Jonah 2:8
Every man should take a few minutes to read through the entire chapter from Isaiah 44. Here’s a sample, “All who make idols are nothing, and the things they treasure are worthless. Who shapes a god and casts an idol, which can profit him nothing? He and his kind will be put to shame.”
It’s amazing how so many of us make idols in our lives and bow down to them in various ways. These idols may not be made out of wood or steel, but we make idols in our lives nonetheless, don’t we?
At times our idol is work or our career, other times it’s our infatuation with video games or sports. Whenever we place so much importance on something in our lives that it takes the place of God Himself, we’ve created an idol and need to repent and ask for God to forgive us and help us place Him back in the center of our lives.
Got any idols? What do you need to do to re-center Christ in your life?
